January Update

This month sure did fly by! All pun intended considering I was on some work one-day travels that took me to a different city each week. Power to the people who have careers where they travel like this because day trips seem to be more fly time/airport waiting than it is for the amount of time you are at your destination. But we made it and now it's countdown to the video reveal at the opening of our annual conference. We will be in Denver so I am just ready for it to get here.

Besides hitting the ground running with my job, here are some other updates for the New Year:
  • Last we left off, it was almost NYE! We were the appetizer stop at our Progressive Dinner and I had so much fun decorating and hosting. We are so thankful for our friends.
  • And why not have more parties... we hosted sweet Zaria's 2nd birthday. We went all out since she did not have a big 1st birthday! Or I am just telling myself that to justify going all out anyway.... :)
  • WyldLife is back! We had our semester kickoff at Jumpstreet earlier this week. We are looking forward to some really fun clubs, lots of middle school friends and serving the Lord through our community. Check out (and like) our Facebook page here
  • Before the school semester started, Heath actually said to me: "Is it weird that I'm ready to go back to school?" Yes, it is weird, but when he loves his job as much as he does then I wouldn't blame him. He truly is a blessing for those kids and I am still so amazed at how God has led him to what he is doing today.
  • Heath got some tools for Christmas (adulting so hard) so he was anxious to get started on some projects. He convinced me to let him start on the fireplace and after a few of (my) regrets, (my) tears and (me) trusting that Heath knows what he's doing, we have a beautiful (almost) finished fireplace and I could not be more proud of him!
  • I've increasingly become the person I never thought I would be. True confession: I'm obsessed with our dog. Since I work from home, he is around me ALL day so it's natural for me to like him more and more. It's also pretty annoying. I just can't help myself! After I read the book A Dog's Purpose, I talk to Chief as if he can talk to me back. I'm also in the process of convincing Heath that we should cook his food so we know what's in the food he's eating, but Heath was quick to remind me that Chief is STILL A DOG. And I can't believe this paragraph is the longest of the updates (LOL yes, I can) - but we boarded Chief for the first time while we were out of town and I had slight anxiety about how he was going to do or if they were really going to take care of him like their website said. So pretty much, January is a milestone in that I survived him staying overnight somewhere else :)
Of course, it wouldn't be a McKay update without pictures of everything we did this month... Enjoy :)

Best date ever. 10/10
So excited for them! Kasee is Heath's longtime friend like family so I'm glad we got to share her big day with her.
My MIL is one of my closest friends and I am so glad we went to the wedding together.
Can't even tell that she danced so hard the sleeves of her dress ripped
Here are the guys at our NYE stop!
Then the girls
Because McKays love da kids

I forgot to take pictures at stop #2 for dinner at the Chambers but it was amazing (as always)... final stop was dessert @ the Joneses!

This was over Christmas break, but I finally got to see Lauren!
Dakota came in town :)
Thanks OBU!
My best friend came to stay with us for a weekend
#andersonmckaymonthlydatenight
#willanderkayclub
Gma and I got matching purses
And because there's more photos of him on my phone......
First snow
Heath didn't think I was joking when I said I bought the socks
He chews all of his toys ($$$$) so we are trying out some new Kong toys. The one in his mouth did not make it after Day 1.
I'm looking forward to going to Austin this weekend for IF:Gathering with some friends and I'm sure Heath is pumped to just hang out with no plans (his favorite)! There's also some event called the Super Bowl on Sunday, but I'm going for the food :)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Until next time,
