Early in the week of our Mexico trip, Heath and I met a really sweet couple at the resort. Married for over 15 years, they came over to us on the beach to give us some advice for our future. With our wedding coming up on Friday, they also offered us a gift-- a $20 bill.
But he ripped it in half right in front of us.
There's a story behind everything though. He explained that when he first got married, someone also gave them a bill that was ripped in half. Granted it was only $1, but as he emphasized...
it was a loooong time ago. Ripping the bill in half meant that neither of them would ever be broke as long as they were together. He told us we had to carry our half everywhere we went, and, until that very day, that sweet couple still had their halved $1 bill tucked away in their wallets. I can't wait to do the same for another couple when we've had our halved $20 bill for 15 years! Watch the video below to catch the full story.

"Always remember that the two of you together are never, ever broke."
