December Update

And here we are in December after a whole year of monthly updates. December: another month of travel (I went to three places within two weeks), I became an aunt again!, celebrating my best friend as bride-to-be, lots of Christmas celebrations with friends and family and, most importantly, announcing Baby McKay due July 8th!

Heath and I were never in a rush to have kids. We've always been on the same page for awhile as we really enjoy our time alone together and loving on our nieces and nephews. We've even pushed back our "let's start trying" timeline not once, but twice! We agreed going into year '30' that we would start trying to consider our options in case we couldn't get pregnant... you know, just in case. We were blessed with a YES pretty quickly and it's just been a whirlwind of emotions. When I first found out, I have to be honest and let you know I panicked and then I cried and then I didn't know how in the world I was going to bring a baby into my crazy world. Then I told Heath shortly after and his cheesy smile just reminded me of how thankful I am to be embarking on parenthood with him! We're all kinds of excited, we're scared, we're nervous, we're thankful and we are so glad we have the biggest support system of family and friends... especially because they've gone through this adventure before!

I still haven't fully wrapped my mind around being pregnant and I know women have different experiences. I'm looking forward to sharing some of mine in the months to come! I didn't have any morning sickness aside from a random day or two, but I had terrible food aversions. For someone like me who likes to prepare meals and cook often, I found myself not being able to eat the actual food I cooked because the smells really got to me. Heath will tell you that I don't really have any new cravings because I'm always craving something even when I wasn't pregnant - ha! This is true. I have a pretty big appetite so my biggest struggle is not using pregnancy to overeat :)

Here are a few pictures one of my best friends Megan took of us in time for our Christmas Day announcement and then pictures from the rest of the month!

Until next YEAR,
