Late Post: Last Few Days in America

How did I spend my last few days in America?  Besides hanging out with some of my dearest friends and spending time with my family, I ate.  And ate.  And ate.

I knew I was going to a land with no taste for spice or acidity or fried food, so I needed to take advantage of all my favorite foods around me!  In a post from Sept.  20th, I had a list of all the foods and/or places I wanted to indulge in before I left for Kazakhstan.  I was hoping for a 50% success rate.

Here's a recap of that list:

  • Chipotle
  • Fuzzy's
  • Chuy's
  • Sushi Axiom
  • Anywhere fried chicken
  • Anywhere chips and salsa
  • Jason's Deli
  • Chick-fil-A
  • McDonald's French fries
  • Taco Bell Mexican Pizza
  • Anywhere Pizza

Let's see how I did...

On Wednesday night, I went to Jason's Deli to eat dinner with my family.  Their salad bar is by far my favorite, and I love their Leo's Italian Dressing!  I ate here not knowing that my visa was going to be ready in a few days.  Lucky me.  Below you can see I documented everything I ate from Thursday until I got to Kazakhstan Tuesday.  This girl loves her food.

My little brother Ty, Amy and I went to Lupe's for some yummy Mexican food.  Amy and I shared fresh, tableside guacamole and a shrimp chile rellano.  Of course, I devoured the chips and salsa!!
My first time at Raising Cane's Chicken with Amy!  I wish they had mashed potatoes like Popeye's, but the perfectly fried French fries made up for it.
Steak Salad... I get it the same way every time.  Currently drooling.
Asian food wasn't on the agenda, but it was a cold and rainy day... Pho was perfect for that!!  Amy also wanted some sushi, and Pho V in Bedford had everything.
My spicy california roll and Amy's yellowtail.
Kristina snuck me away from packing and treated me to a delicious spicy chicken sandwich.  I ate it before we even got back to my house.  That good.
Sushi Axiom on 7th Street in Fort Worth is my all time favorite restaurant!!  The sushi there is fabulous and not overpriced.  I got a jalepeno roll on the left, and a spicy tuna roll on the right.
I had to take a picture of my parent's sushi boat!
I got a chicken cobb salad from Au Bon Pain before boarding the plane to Frankfurt.  Little did I know they served a hot dinner, but I still ate my salad anyway.
Popeye's.  Perfect.  This was my last meal before I flew out of DFW.
No Mexican Pizza at the Taco Bell Express in the DFW airport, so this will have to do!  Unfortunately, my flight delayed so this did not end up being my last DFW meal like I thought.
McDonald's for lunch in the Frankfurt, Germany airport.  I die for those fries.

  • Chipotle

  • Anywhere fried chicken
  • Anywhere chips and salsa
  • Jason's Deli
  • Chick-fil-A
  • McDonald's French fries
  • Taco Bell Mexican Pizza
  • Anywhere Pizza
I surpassed 50%.... I ate 8/11 from the list, which totals to 73%!  For those of you who know me very well know that I love to eat, so being that close to completing the list isn't a surprise.  And no, I did not do one thing close to exercising to make up for the calorie intake.  No running.  No ab workouts.  Nothing.

Thanks to my girlfriends and family who took on this challenge with me (Amy, Kristina and Ryan).  The word "diet" was not a part of our vocabulary for my last few days.

Now, the numbers would probably be a different story if I were to get on the scale.  THAT number will definitely not be revealed after my food frenzy ;)

I already miss Chipotle's hot sauce......

Until next time,

Natalie
