Although the team lost today, they put up a very good fight in the fourth quarter. This game was considered the "most closely contested game of the entire competition so far." I'm very proud of how Heath played. He is a great athlete to me no matter what, but I purposely didn't mention something in my post yesterday.
Heath actually rolled his right ankle during practice yesterday morning. He could barely walk. After he visited with the team doctor, his coach responded in three words- "Ice... Play tomorrow." Uhhh, what?! I was very worried all day yesterday, and even during the game today, because I wanted Heath to play to his full potential but didn't want something worse to happen. I prayed as soon as I found out about his ankle, as I'm sure some of his family members as well as himself were doing too.
We talked after his game, and Heath couldn't have said it any better- "Thank God for the power of prayer. This morning, there's no way I was thinking I was going to play tonight."
He had 18 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Also for "scoring summary" out of all players in the tournament, he ranks #19. Only him and another teammate rank in the top 20. Heath is one of the most humble people I've ever met. He would never tell you his "numbers" willingly, but that's why you have me. Because I'll tell you... I'm just always so proud of him!
Their next game in the "Final Round" bracket is this Thursday. Check out the press release of today's game here.
Until next time,
