6 Things We've Learned About Married Life

Yesterday was a fun day.  Not only did the team we were rooting for win the Superbowl, but it was also our six-month anniversary!  We’ve never been the anniversary type of couple, where we celebrate vibrantly with dates and shower each other with gifts.  It took us awhile to even pin down an official date when we were just dating because we “talked” for so long that dates didn’t matter.

Now that we’re married, we're trying to get better at "celebrating" important anniversaries.  By celebrating, I really just mean acknowledging the date.  In honor of our six fun months of marriage yesterday, we wanted to share our combined list of six things we've learned since we've been married- his three and my three.  Heath actually wrote his own (surprise, surprise!) so if there are any typos on his list, I didn't write it ;)

6 Things We've Learned About Married Life
  1. Things don't always go as planned, but they work out anyway.  This is something I'm learning about life in general; however, I really had to learn this when our Kazakhstan plans didn't go as we originally planned.  But there was beauty in the madness.  We are happy where we are now, and will trust that God knows what He's doing.
  2. Heath is my best friend that never goes away.  I knew this going into marriage, but now I really know it.  Heath is everywhere I go, even when I don't want him to be.  I don't necessarily mean that physically, but he is constantly in my head or popping up on my phone.  No matter how frustrated or moody I get sometimes, Heath never goes away.  It's a great feeling.
  3. Learning to share is hard.  Prior to moving out of the country, we went to only one car.  Now that we've been back, we still have one car.  We also now have one walk-in closet, which I thought was going to work out for us.  Little did I know I married a man who has the same amount of clothes and, if not more, shoes than me!  I want things to go a certain way and in a certain place, but I've had to learn to share my space.
  4. Natalie is willing to support anything that I want to do.
  5. When you are asked 5 questions in a row, you are to give 5 answers back… not one.
  6. I will never have to cook another meal in my life! Thank you Pinterest.

Notice that I was much more elaborate on mine :)

Until next time,
