Orlando was a fun work trip. I learned a lot from the conference and was able to network with many people, both seasoned ASAE members and first time attendees (such as myself). I love staying in hotels, so I was floored when I saw that my shuttle was dropping me off at a resort hotel and not just a regular hotel. Needless to say, I did not find any reason to leave the hotel.
My niece and nephew spent the night with us again one weekend, and it's always fun when they are around. Jay seems to cling more to me, and Nevaeh favors Heath. I wonder if this is what our future will look like? My little brother and his girlfriend also joined us for frozen yogurt.
Speaking of little brother, he will be headed to college very soon! He is a senior this year, so similar to his personality, he recently just applied for the community college here to finish his basics before going to an undecided university. You'd think Spring of his senior year is a little late to do that, but he still made the deadline!
It's a pretty busy time at work right now as our annual conference is less than three weeks away. I find myself forgetting to eat lunch at a decent time, but the deadlines give me an adrenaline rush. Well, until all the materials go to print and then, I'm in anxiety mode hoping I didn't forget a comma or something.
Despite the busyness, I still find time to cook meals at home. I think it's my happy place. That, and a glass of wine. Or most recently, a whole box. The process (making a meal list, grocery shopping, prepping and cooking) is really worth all the time and effort. Heath and I have become accustomed to wanting to know what our food is made out of and looking at the ingredient list in items we purchase.
Now, this definitely does not mean we are health nuts. I think we've made pit stops at Costco more times than I can remember the last few weeks just so I could get a churro. We also don't want to force our guests into eating the way we do, so we've had a various number of cheat meals. One specifically that included butter! I try my best to never cook with butter. We hate butter.

We also spent some time at Top Golf with one of our couple friends, and it was a fun double date. I will never understand guys turning everything into a competition, but it sure is amusing. I don't know if it was the wine that gave me so much confidence, but I played my best game ever! If you are ever in the DFW area, you should definitely try Top Golf.
Heath's mom and stepdad are coming in town this weekend, so we are looking forward to showing them around Grapevine. I hate that we are getting some rain this weekend, but we will still have fun! We've got some busy weekends ahead of us filled with bridal showers, out-of-town conferences, weddings and Easter. We are always thankful to spend time with our friends and family, but it also helps us appreciate the down time we have with each other.
Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
