Fourth of July Weekend

I've gotta be honest.  Now that we are a two-vehicle family, schedules are so much easier!  At Heath's previous job, he had to be at work earlier than I did so I always had to get up even earlier and rush to get ready.  My morning attitudes are much better, which I'm sure Heath is enjoying :)

We recently purchased some new patio furniture for a great deal at Big Lots.  In lieu of a fancy, expensive birthday dinner for Heath, he said he rather spend that money towards our patio.  He thinks we are done now that we have a table and chairs, but little does he know there is so much more to be done.  My mind is just wandering... planting flowers on the ledges, hanging plants, doormat, decorative lamp candles, more signs... Heath's eyes just roll when I talk about buying more decorative stuff!  We had breakfast every morning on the patio last week, so I'm loving this new tradition.
Our friends Ashley and Nate came in town for the holiday weekend and it was very relaxing.  I think we played Apples to Apples just about every day.  We took them to Top Golf for the first time (I think that's our go-to activity for our visitors), ate at some new places and celebrated our freedom in America with a cookout and some pool/hot tub time of course!  We also got to see a few of other friends so it was a great weekend.  Grapevine fireworks were out of control - in a good way!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend, and enjoy the rest of the week.  Not only are we thankful for our freedom in America, but our freedom in Christ!  There was a guest speaker at church this last Sunday who touched on how we can take for granted our freedom in Christ.  There are other countries in this world where people have to hide their Christian beliefs in fear of getting killed.  We are proud to be Americans, but, most importantly, proud to be believers of Christ who can live out loud in faith.
We had a team dinner for work and went to Taco Diner.  I've only been here a handful of times, but this was my first time to try all their salsas.  Two of them sure are spicy!!
I bought an Eatzi's Groupon because I've heard so many great reviews about this place.  It's tucked in the middle of other restaurants, so we've never had a desire to go here.  It's primarily a market so that's probably why.  However, we went on chicken fried ribeye night and it was so good!  In their market, they have several food samples.  Most of their options are grab and go items, but they have a great outdoor dining area.
We stopped for a quick bite and I had to take a picture of this pretty view on top of a small hill.  The townhomes were just beautiful!  This was in Irving off of 635 East.
I made oven baked tacos last night, but on the slightly healthier side with black beans and ground turkey.  I also made a fresh chopped salsa.  If you are interested in the recipe, you can find my version here.
I pack our lunches every day for work.  This chicken fajita wrap was so yummy and healthy.  If you are interested in this simple recipe, you can find my version here.

Until next time,
