We took my niece and nephew with us to Graham, TX for our other niece's 1st birthday party this past weekend. The decorations and theme were darling… and so was the birthday girl. It seemed like yesterday we were leaving Oklahoma at 4 in the morning to make it in time for Remi's birth in Texas. We love watching our nieces and nephew grow! I have a soft spot for my nephew Jay because he was the first one who made me an aunt :)
Jay does no wrong.
The best thing about being a super aunt and super uncle is not that we give them back to their parents at the end of the day, although we joke about that often, but that we can experience small glimpses of what it would be like if we were parents.
The way I see Heath with our nieces and nephew lets me know that he's going to be the "fun" dad - you know, the dad that lets you eat dessert before dinner or buys you the shoes that your mom won't get you. When I'm around them, I know I'm going to be the "you'll appreciate me later" mom - you know, the mom that encourages you to read 40 books in the school year when the requirement is only 20 or makes you eat all your vegetables before you can leave the dinner table.
I'm also the mom that's always with a glass of wine ;)
I love discovering these little things about us, and we look forward to the day we are ready to have kids of our own. We know that day is not today, or anytime soon, but I pray that we are parents whose love for the Lord is so evident that our children will want to know Him too.

| Passed out babies on the way to Graham. Jay: "Are we in the country? Do we have enough gas because if the car dies then we will die out here." I swear I love that kid. |
| Cake made by Treats by Tayte! I'm not a cake person, but I heard it was really really really good (as it was pretty). |
| Birthday girl is up from her nap and hanging out with Gigi |
| The happy parents! |
| This sweet girl would not "smash" her smash cake at all. That's my kinda niece! I'm not for mess either :) |
| "I'm just going to sit here and look cute for all the pictures." |
| We love our cousin Tayte and our sister Annie, too. Wish I lived closer so I could borrow all their cute clothes! |
| I love getting to see my Oklahoma family, especially all in Texas |
| Dakota asked me to go to the Queen concert with her, so I went to hang out and didn't know the music would be so good! |
| Cilantro lime shredded chicken filling for days worth of FlatOut quesadillas and/or pizzas :) |
| My favorite recipe from Rachael Ray that I've adjusted to our tastings. Here's my version for a yummy dish! |
| Shrimp Quesadilla night |
| My Gateway girls got us this grill pan as a wedding gift, and it's the most used kitchen item we have! We love this thing. |
| Love my mornings on the patio with Heath |
| We had them for the weekend so they went with us to church. Proud of their Compass Kids bucks from Sunday school! |
Until next time,
