Catching Up

It's rained, iced and SNOWED since the last post. It sure has been awhile so I thought I would catch up on what we've been doing in pictures (yet again) and also fill out another one of these lists like I did in this post. A lot has been going on lately, which contributes to the blog hiatus, but I am going to commit to keeping up! Some of our big highlights is currently taking part in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University (it's our second week and we've learned a lot!), my work's large annual conference is less than a month away (hoping I don't lose my voice like last year) and we are enjoying getting to know and making new friends with our community group (we've tripled in size since the holidays!).

Our (well, mainly just my) current things:
  • Making: healthy food. I've perfected this chicken quinoa pasta I made up, baked buffalo chicken nuggets and cauliflower "baked potato" soup. We still eat pretty healthy in the McKay home, but we can't ever say no to pizza.
  • Cooking: .... I definitely jumped the gun on this question. See above :)
  • Drinking: water right now, BUT we are very much (still) into Moscow Mules. I also finally found XOXO wine by Giuliana Rancic and they're great too.
  • Reading: all of Dave Ramsey's FPU stuff. There is a book component to it so we've been enjoying that. I really need to find time to pick up a book soon because I miss reading.
  • Wanting: the sunshine! I need the HOT Texas weather. Heath and I are definitely summer people.
  • Looking: for new furniture. We took a bit of a break so hopefully by summertime.
  • Playing: March Madness! It's bracket time! (I beat Heath last year.)
  • Wasting: money.  Where does it all go?! (This is the same answer from last year and it still hasn't changed!)
  • Wishing: for summertime.
  • Enjoying: Sundays with Heath. It's our only day off together during the week.
  • Waiting: for Secrets and Lies to come on. Heath and I are into SO many shows this season.
  • Liking: doing laundry. Seriously.
  • Wondering: how FPU will change our view on finances this year.
  • Loving: our dining table. It's very roomy. Thank you to our friends, The Jeffreys, for giving it away :)
  • Hoping: that Heath finds a job that will make him happy. (This is the same answer from last year too and I'm still hoping that for him!)
  • Marveling: at how much Daylight Savings Time truly messes up my sleep schedule.
  • Needing: to clean our cars! The recent ice and snow storms have made our cars pretty dirty.
  • Smelling: a new candle.
  • Wearing: jeans and a T-shirt. Not sure why I'm not in sweat pants.
  • Following: up with friends... needing to do this soon!
  • Noticing: how tidy our place is.
  • Knowing: I need to practice discipline in various areas in my life.
  • Thinking: about my work week.
  • Bookmarking: new recipes. As always.
  • Opening: my mind. This year has brought a lot of new perspectives on many things in general for me, i.e. relationships, finance, work, etc...
  • Giggling: when we watch Jimmy Kimmel Live!
  • Feeling: hungry.
Dinner time calling... Hope you all have a great week!!

Martin House Brewing Company. Great experience
My friend Cortny suggested Sweet Sammie's for dessert (which we had before dinner just because we can!) and it did not disappoint... Heath could've had three if he could (but we didn't let him of course)
Heath's first time at Joe T. Garcia's. We only waited for 5 minutes because we got some VIP treatment! Not sure how lucky we were to get that but we got pulled out of this massive long line so we didn't complain.
Pretending to be cowboys in the Stockyards
Perfect night for a walk (and also an attempt to walk off the pounds from dinner!)

Until next time,
