The sun has been shining and I can finally feel some heat stickin' around. Who would've thought I would be PRAYING for this Texas summer heat!? I know the rain was good for our drought despite the massive floodings, but I hope it's gone so we can finally enjoy a true Texas summer.
In spirit of the nice weather, Heath and I have already sat around the pool, enjoyed Starbucks on their patio and even had a dinner on our own patio one evening. It's just been THAT amazing outside. I'm sure in a few weeks I will be cursing the mosquitoes and humidity, but it's good for now :)
We are soaking in the sun and definitely have been enjoying some time with our friends. I caught up with some of my best girl friends this last week and some of our college friends came and hung out at our place Saturday. I love that I can say I am still close with a majority of my friends from college!

Saturday night Moscow Mules - our favorite drink.
There isn't too much planned this summer, but I am looking forward to co-leading a girls bible study with my friend Cortny. I just met her a few months ago, but I feel like we have been friends for forever! She is just one of those girls who just
gets me. I love how God has brought some incredible new friendships in our lives since we moved here a little over a year ago. Anyways, I'm looking forward to some super girl time this summer (
which always includes snacks on snacks on snacks). I think the guys from our community group are getting together weekly to play a little pick up basketball.
Such a guy thing.
Our niece and nephew are spending a few days with us starting Thursday through the weekend so we always look forward to that time together. There's also the
Food Truck Championship of Texas being hosted in Heath's brother's town, so we are making the drive to not only check out some food trucks (
just warms my foodie heart up!) but also spend some time with family.

Jay's awards presentation. He passed the STAAR and is officially done with 3rd grade! So proud of him. I wish you could've heard the enthusiasm and pride in his voice when he called me last Friday just to tell me he passed state testing.
Some doors have been closed around here in the McKay household, but both Heath and I are trusting that God will open new ones for us soon. There's a lot of room for opportunity and growth, and we are staying faithful that He will provide! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I will elaborate eventually, but, for right now, this does
not mean we are trying to or having a baby :)
Breaking some of yall's heart, I know.

My biggest blessing
I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Here's what we've been cooking this week...
|
Sauteed shrimp & mango salsa over quinoa w/ a side of roasted asparagus (no recipe link here, I just threw it together)
Until next time,
