We Both Quit Our Jobs

Well, kinda :) Let's start with me first...

Remember when I said I usually work a seasonal job during the holidays because I had some free time and it helped with Christmas gifts? That "seasonal" job turned into an over seven month gig! I finally put in my notice and worked my last closing shift at Jo-Ann Fabrics last night. I probably could've kept working there forever because I only wanted a shift a week, but I'm learning that I need to free up some of my time rather than trying to fill every hour of it. I'm hoping this will help me relax and enjoy some quiet time. Hopefully.

In regards to my full-time marketing job, I very much am still at the same organization and recently just felt a peace and confirmation that the work I am doing right now is what I'm really good at it and what I want to be doing for a long time. Now let's go on to Heath...

He for real quit his job at the YMCA a little over a month ago. I'm talking like sleeping in, working out and tackling my honey-do list the past few weeks. I was a little timid when he first told me this is what he wanted to do, but I know that he was starting to get unhappy and I'm a firm believer in doing what you do only if it makes you happy. But with every closed door, God opens new ones. Heath has actually been on a new career adventure since before the holidays and now I can finally tell the blog world what it is.

Heath recently accepted a teaching position in the special education department at a middle school in Grapevine Colleyville ISD! MY HUSBAND IS FINALLY GOING TO BE A TEACHER NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. I'm probably more excited than he is, but he has worked SO hard to get to where he is now. Last November, he came to me and told me he wanted to pursue teaching again (that was his original major in college, but he opted out of student teaching to move forward). This was a big deal at the time because he was supposed to be going to Spain after the holidays for a basketball endeavor. We reached a pivotal point in our relationship as not only was Heath going to pursue a new dream in teaching, but he was also letting go of an overseas basketball dream. He said God really changed his heart. And hearing him say that melted mine at the same time.

An alternative teaching program, late night crash studying and three certification tests later, we are both seeing all of Heath's hard work and patience (and God's plan) come to fruition. We both really wanted him to be teaching in the community we live in so this is all just a wonderful blessing!

So yes, we both did really quit our jobs and we couldn't be more thankful.

Until next time,
