May Update

I love May. I love everything about May! It's almost summer, it's my birthday month and I've found it's a big celebratory month in general, i.e. weddings, graduations and baby showers. To no one's surprise, this month was jam packed. I mentioned in last month's update that we moved in on April 30, and because we are aggressive over achievers (well me at least!), we had our first overnight guests merely the weekend after.
Keep reading to hear more about our NOLA trip!
Heath's sister, mom and her husband came to check out the new digs, but we also were celebrating Glenda's birthday! We did a lot of home shopping considering we all were on the hunt for something. Glenda and Kyle were looking for a rug and chair, Annie is moving into her college house in the fall so she had a lot of fun shopping and we were in search of about everything! It was also Mother's Day weekend so we hosted a lunch for all the moms on Sunday - my mom, Heath's mom, my sister, my grandma and Ashley. I love all these mommas!
I went to her Mother's Day tea because my sister had to work

My friends and I always celebrate in style so of course we had to give some of our engaged couple friends a fiesta-themed shower. It is an understatement to say we are so thankful for these group of people.
Sunday brunch with some girlfriends
Sending Devon off to Frontier for part of the summer!
Friends forever
Here are some random photos.... Heath stained, painted and sanded these chairs for our kitchen table. I love it! I also had a work trip to Rochester so I made good use of our chalkboard. One of my favorite things as a wife is to pack Heath's lunches and prepare meals and going out of town does not prevent me from doing that :)
I also helped host Dakota's baby shower. I can't wait to meet Baby Luke!
I turned 28 this month too so there were little celebrations here and there :)

Brunch at Kenny's (we go here to celebrate everything!)
I went to my first play!
Bill and Lindsey's first time at TopGolf
Love these girls (and their babies)

My niece and nephew had their end of the school year award ceremonies. I don't even know how I'm going to handle being a mom one day because I CANNOT DEAL with how big Jay and Nevaeh are getting. I know it's the way of life, but time is going by so fast.
And what was most exciting... We took a trip to New Orleans over Memorial Day Weekend with another one of our couple friends. This was our first Airbnb experience and it was so great. We actually just booked another Airbnb for a trip in July so needless to say, I love the idea of "living like a local" rather than in a hotel sometimes. We went on a Cajun Pride Swamp Tour while there. The tour was great, but the best part was getting to hold some of the guide's "pets." By pets, I mean he had 2 snakes and a baby alligator. WE ATE SO MUCH FOOD. Our whole trip was guided by where we were eating and the location of the restaurant (similar to how I live my life every day). Enjoy the pictures! I love exploring a new city, and it's even more fun with Heath.
Funny story... I found a self-guided walking tour of Lafayette Cemetery so I guided us through the place. About a third of the way through, I had 2 other group following and listening to me - HA! They kept asking me questions and I just had to be honest and say "I'm sorry. This is Google. I'm literally reading this and I cannot take or answer any questions."

Heath's official last day of school is today so I will have someone home with me during the summers now. One of his summer projects is to start working on the deck so we can enjoy the backyard and the pool. He has surprisingly become obsessed with this house design program on his computer and has designed the deck on there with exact dimensions. I was floored when he walked through it with me the other night.... For all my Fixer Upper fans, think of the walk-through Joanna goes through with her clients to show them their home renovations on her computer before they start!

Well, I hope you all have a great day! My grandma turns 85 today.... 85!!!!! Can't wait to celebrate her.

Until next time,
