- Yes, my water broke early that morning. I wasn't doing anything to naturally induce labor so this was surprising.
- I was only dilated 1cm when I checked in so I got pitocin every 30 mins starting at 11ish and was a 10 by 8:30pm.
- Yes, I got an epidural - around 4pm.
- I had no complications during labor and did not deliver early because of anything else... she simply was ready to come out!
- Her due date was actually July 8th.
- I pushed for only 35 minutes.
- Yes, Heath cut the cord.

Dear Kennedy,
I was lying in bed looking at lamps for your room when my water broke (8:34am). I had a big work meeting this week and lots of last minute prep before I left for maternity leave. It was my first time to be gone from work for this long so I was getting stressed (you'll learn that your mama likes to work!).
I called the doctor's office and they wanted me to come to the hospital to check and confirm that my water broke. I was so stubborn and kept asking the nurse to make sure. It was 13 days before your due date so I wasn't ready and heard many moms get turned around to come home because they weren't dilated far enough. I gave in and called your dad who was teaching summer school (this was also after I called two of my mom friends to again double check if my water broke because I still didn't believe it). He was very anxious and hurried home to take us to the hospital, but I wanted to shower and get ready first in case you really were ready to come today (June 25 - it was a Monday).
We checked in around 9:30am at Baylor Grapevine. The charge nurse confirmed my water did break and I needed to be admitted to labor and delivery. Here we go! We started texting all friends and family and were excited for you to get here.
We checked into a room around 10:30am and was in labor until I started pushing around 9:20pm. Your aunt Megs brought your dad lunch and your titi Ashley came by during lunch to see us too. Your Poppy and Nana drove down and stopped by the hospital to bring your dad dinner. Your Gigi and aunt Annie were staying at our house with your puppy brother, Chief. Your Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandma came to visit too. But by the time it was time to push, it was a sweet moment with just me and your dad for 30 or so mins.
We turned on a Praise & Worship playlist on Spotify and sat in silence just listening to the music. I'm not sure what your dad was thinking because we both didn't say a word, but I had a mix of emotions ready to meet you. We silently prayed and waited for the doctor and nurses to get the room prepped for pushing. It was go time!
We first heard your cry at 9:55pm. The 35 mins of pushing felt like forever. We immediately had skin to skin and we fell in love with you instantly. You had so much hair! You looked very much like me from the beginning and I couldn't wait to show you off to everyone.
You're our sweet little girl and we love you so much! Our prayer is that you come to know Jesus as your Savior and know that we are committed to living our lives to show you how much Jesus means to us and our family.
Love,
Mom & Dad

Heath finally got to hold her and have skin on skin time around 1 in the morning. He had to wait a little over 3 hours for this moment!

I slept 30 mins the first night in the hospital and then a collective 1.5 hours the second night. Others were fine :)
She's already changed so much since we brought her home!

For those of you wondering... Chief adjusted great. He loves her. This was our first day home.

Sweet welcome home basket from some of my best friends. We were showered with so much love through phone calls, texts, visits and even more gifts from the best friends and family. We love our tribe!
Yes, we are losing sleep. Yes, this has been one of the best moments of our lives but also the hardest. Yes, we decided we are going to keep her - ha!
Also, Happy World Breastfeeding Week! Labor is nothing compared to the art of breastfeeding. I never thought our prayers would ever include the words 'boob' and 'clogged duct' but they do now :)
Until next time,
