Home Sweet Home

I'm just going to cut to the chase here.... Heath and I are going back to America!

I know it took me awhile to get here and I'm leaving already, but we've got to catch what life throws us. We both knew going into this overseas basketball adventure together that this business is very fluid. Contracts or not, American imports never know when they're going home. We took that risk together by coming here, so we are in this together through the end.

Heath and his coach have had their differences for awhile now, even before I got here. I thought maybe once I got here, it would be a better experience for Heath. However, there wasn't anything I could do to make basketball any better. I had no control over the coach or what crazy thing he wanted Heath to do when playing. He told Heath he didn't want him to shoot in a game one time. Wait.. What? Do you know that it's always "Heath for 3!!"?!

I've never worked for a boss I didn't like, so I won't ever understand the situation between Heath and his coach. I know I couldn't imagine working under someone I didn't respect. Heath is very relieved and happy about this, which means I am nothing more than happy for him.

Anyways, there's a lot of basketball terms I don't understand. All I know is they both agreed to get out of the contract, and Heath gets to go home... Which is what he's been wanting to do for awhile. Basketball hasn't been the best experience for him here, but we've had a lot of fun experiencing everything else in the city! We both agreed the life is so simple here, and we've enjoyed it.

Heath is expected to play in the next two games on the 22nd and 23rd. Yeah, weird. Don't ask me why either. This means he will be back home around the 27th of this month. We are looking at flights to send me home earlier- sometime around the 20th. Next weeeeeek!

Back to the American life! Our family is so excited about the news, and we can't wait to see them as much as they can't wait to see us. I'm dreading the job search when I go back home, but I've enjoyed the little break I got to have the last few months. Kazakhstan was good while it lasted. Heath hopes to take his talents elsewhere, and has a camp lined up already.

Whatever he is, I am too. And I'm more than thankful that he is satisfied and happy with this decision.

Thanks for keeping up with our mini-adventure overseas, and thanks even more for keeping us in your prayers! I will continue to post even when we are back in the states. After all, anywhere is our journey together :)

Excited-to-go-back-to-America faces!

Until next time,

  2. If you guys didn't take the chance of going over there you may have been wondering what it would have been like. I'm happy to see you two already adventuring back to America closer to family and friends. I know how hard it is to be away from everything you've ever known! We wish you both safe travels and welcome back to the states! -Love, The Stegmans
