Self-Saturday

We always want what we can't have, or so it seems like it to me when it comes to hair.

I have very thick, strain-textured (did I just make this up?) hair.  I enjoy it most of the time because I wear it the same every day- parted on the right side and completely straight.  It's easy, and it's comfortable.  I've had compliments in the past about how they wish they had thick hair like mine, but I can't help but wish I had the complete opposite.

All of the Pinterest hairstyles seem doable... for those NOT with thick hair.  I don't necessarily want thin hair.  I don't know what I want.  Medium-thick hair?  Now I know for sure that is not a thing, and I made it up.  My hair is too thick for a "poofy" volume, too heavy to put up in a trendy sock bun or messy up-do all day (I will seriously get headaches and scalp pain from having my hair up for too long) and too fine to leave in a neat fishtail braid.  I tried the air-dry look to attempt a "wave", but it just ended up looking like bed head.  I recently even parted my hair on the opposite side, but thought it left my hair too flat.  I asked Heath which side part he liked better, and, of course, he replied: "It looks great both ways on you."  Code for: I don't know what the right answer is so I better choose both.

During the summertime, I braided my hair wet before I went to bed so I didn't have to blow dry it and not wake up with crazy cavewoman hair.  I soon figured out this was my cheat way to getting loose waves, just the way I liked it.  I did this yesterday and BAM- I felt like a new woman.  Hassle-free.

But overall, I am just bored of my hair!  That is my confession.  Now that I'm going back to the states soon (THIS FRIDAY!!!), I am on the hunt for something different.  What could be more different than a whole new color?!  I know it doesn't look like it in the sun-filled picture above, but my hair is currently jet black.  I've had it highlighted twice in my whole life professionally, but ended up dyeing my hair with box sets to get it back to one color.

I've narrowed it down to a few options.  And yes, I did do hair color searches on Asian-specific women....

What are your thoughts??  I would love to hear some feedback.  I may or may not be sporting a new hair color by the time the holidays get here :)

Until next time,

Natalie
