Happy New Year! (a few weeks late...)

I hope you had a very happy new year and were surrounded with friends and family. Since we left off in 2014 (ha!), I celebrated New Year's with some fun friends and family, went to my first painting party and I'm still trying to shake off the three lbs. I gained during break...

When we finally came home to Texas, we hit the ground running. We already had plans with one of our couple friends for a date night at the Addison Improv. It was a late showing, but it was so much fun! I had really bad allergies that day so I had to fight through it. I always love date nights with Heath, and it's even more fun with other couples. Heath's family always sends us home with so much food so we were stocked for the first week back. Not to mention with all the Christmas candy we got in our stockings. I made Heath take basically all of it to work.
Candy...
...MORE candy! and homemade desserts
Glenda made us the cutest wreath!
Speaking of work, Heath has been SO busy with the start of YMCA basketball season. I am so proud of his hard work. I, too, am still busy at both jobs as I stayed on after seasonal because it doesn't hurt to make a little extra money when you have a little extra time!

Heath and I have discussed our yearly goals for the year, and we can't wait to see what God will teach us throughout this year in our marriage, our jobs and our community. God is never away from us; we choose our proximity to Him. I pray that we all choose to be close/closer to God in everything that we do! It's hard for the Lord to teach us something if we aren't listening.

Some updates:
  • Both Heath and Amy got me some Flavor God seasoning for Christmas and I am obsessed! Check them out on Instagram.
  • We are in search of new couches. It's definitely been a process, but it's been fun shopping for something "big" together. We also have very different decorating styles, so we have to compromise often. Welcome to marriage!
  • I'm cooking new recipes from the Skinnytaste cookbook (thanks Jennifer!) so fair warning for food overload pictures.... more than usual :)
  • Baby Zaria is due any minute so we (Aunt Mimi & Uncle Heath) can't wait!!
Skinnytaste's salmon bowls
Pinch of Yum's Vietnamese noodle salad with shrimp instead of chicken
McKay Christmas family picture retakes - it randomly snowed!
Notice how much I didn't care to play in it...
Skinnytaste's buttermilk oven fried chicken - so so so yum

Have a great week! May 2015 be ever in your favor.... :)

Until next time,
